Talk:Foxmarks: Getting Started

From Foxcloud Wiki

is there a mac os version?

It's a Firefox extension, so it works with all version of Firefox, including Mac OS X. -- mitch

Please make it possible to just download the current extension version via the "Save Link As..." context menu. --Thomas

You can. Just rename the thing downloaded to foxmarks.xpi and you should be good to go. --Todd 02:17, 7 February 2006 (EST)

I agree with Thomas, please make the xpi available as a file download as the filefetcher does not work with my firefox ver 1.5...

Same with me, I am using the PortableFirefox package which by some reason seems to trip the filefetcher. What is wrong with a normal save target as link?

Solved! Just download the file with Internet Explorer and install it from a local disk!
Glad to hear that works. Additionally, you can always find a direct link to the XPI on the Foxmarks: Release Notes page. --Todd 12:38, 3 April 2006 (EDT)

I find the idea of sending my bookmarks to a "third-party server" suspicious in general. Why can't I specify an own ftp- or WebDAV-space for the bookmark file? The old "Bookmark Synchronizer" did it like that, but sadly doesn't support Firefox 1.5 :(

Please see Foxmarks: Frequently Asked Questions for information about using Foxmarks with your own server. --Todd 11:12, 11 May 2006 (EDT)

(First time i use this discussion feature) Of you sync two different locations will the bookmarks get all mixed up or can you keep two collections separated from each other? -- Johannes

Please see the FAQ for more info about this. --Todd 13:35, 5 August 2006 (EDT)
